Vision through adversity

Lot’s of people experience helplessness in this world. Whether it’s with their own shortcomings or someone else telling them they’re just not good enough. This creates a false obstacle in mentality. To believe what is said to be true or realize that you can’t do anything to change is simply weakness. A weakness that can deter our life’s path, keeping us from who we are destined to be.

We all use excuses that enable us to shy away from things which we desire most. Such excuses make it a safe haven, because it shields us from an inevitable failure. The unknown, beyond familiar territory, makes for a cyclonic turmoil which can lead to despair. But what if when we did venture beyond that path of familiarity, it lead to something sacred. We wouldn’t know because of the fear which drives us the opposite direction.

One such person had to face such adversity. Being a minority in a predominantly white/black industry, being legally blind, and all of the personal life issues everyone experiences on a daily basis. These things although very powerful, weren’t enough to suppress his desire, his determination to make something big. Not just for himself, but for his friends, family and coworkers. He goes by the name Allan Piñeda Lindo, better known as Apl.de.ap of The Black Eyed Peas.

Apl.de.Ap has had a lucrative career making music and never ceases to reinvent himself and his art. The love for making music and showing vision through it must be a wondrous journey. Whether that journey is amongst colleagues or alone, he makes it possible, because he believes in his ability. It is people like him that inspire others to dream of a brighter tomorrow.
